CDS (Container Deposit Scheme)

What is CDS?

On 1 November 2023 Victoria’s container deposit scheme, CDS Vic, commenced. The scheme rewards Victorians with a 10-cent refund for every eligible can, carton and bottle they return.

It is part of important work that is transforming Victoria’s waste and recycling system.

Three Ways to Contribute

  1. Drop your eligible containers at the Humphries Rd collection bins.

  2. Deposit directly at a collection point near you. Scan the bar code for BPP or type in ID: C2100019890 if barcode scanning is unavailable.

  3. Text the scout patrol collection team on 0403354031 with your address & approximate container quantity, and we will organise a collection (Primarily businesses, currently in trial).

What is Accepted?

Eligible Containers:

Most portable beverage containers between 150ml and 3L.

If in doubt - check for the ‘10c REFUND’ label.

  • Aluminium Cans

  • Plastic Bottles

  • Glass Bottles

  • Paperboard Cartons (Under 1L)

  • Steel bottles/cans

Ineligible Containers:

  • Wine and Spirit Bottles

  • Milk Containers.

  • Paper Cartons (Over 1L)

  • Cordial Bottles
